Founder at ATTIR

January 2020 - present

I am the founder of brand ATTIR which is a sustainable fashion brand specialising in slogan t shirts and sweatshirts. I created this brand as part of my final major project in my final year of university. This brand is a response to this issue of fast fashion and the negative impacts its creating for our environment. I wanted to create a brand that raised awareness and brought together a community to share opinions and to encourage people to make more sustainable decisions whilst making a fashion statement.

Work experience : Visual merchandising - John Lewis

June 2019

During this period of completing work experience in the visual merchandising department at John Lewis' Cardiff store I shadowed and learnt about the factors that go into creating the displays, ranging from the mannequins, props, products, furniture, structures, the upkeep of the displays and the initial inspiration. I also learned about timeframes and the amount of preparation that goes into designing and creating the displays to make sure they are straight to the point and are effective forms of advertising. I was also involved in picking outfits to feature in the womenswear display for wedding week, steaming the garments ready to dress the mannequins and then dressing them appropriately adding tweaks and minor changes where they were needed. As well as this I picked clothing for the children's department displays and created a seaside themed beach display, using children's swimwear, holiday clothes, inflatables, shoes and accessories to match. Alongside this I was involved in picking items for a homeware display involving minimalist pieces, cutting and applying vinyls and general upkeep of existing displays.
